Facebook Overview:

  • 1-4pm late into the week and on weekends
  • Overall best day is Wednesday
  • Off-peak hours.

Advice from industry experts:

A vast majority of industry experts suggest two key approaches:

  1. Devise a strategy based on acquired data, so post based on what your data tells you.
  2. Post when it is relevant and optimal, for example after a product launch.

Suggestions from industry experts:

  1. In the Overview section, look into the Top 5 most recent posts and see which ones have the most engagement.
  2. Look into the Page Views section and see which locations generate the most views.
  3. Check Facebook’s Audience Insights, a great tool to find your audience’s locations and top time zones. It is different from Page Insights and looks at current or potential customers across all of Facebook, including their demographics, interests, and behavioral data.
  4. Experiment with posting times and measure progress via an Excel sheet. When you have a clear idea of where your audience lives and their time zones, post at different times and document each post’s progress by likes and comments. Choose different times for the week after and within a few weeks you can see the best times to post and see when you get the most traffic.
  5. Best times to post depend on sector:
    • B2B brands: Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 9am and 2pm
    • B2C brands: Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday on 12pm
    • Media brands: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 5pm., Friday from 8–9am
    • Education: Wednesday at 9am and Saturday at 5pm
    • Nonprofits: Wednesday and Friday at 9am.
    • Technology: Wednesday from 9am-12pm noon
    • Healthcare: Wednesday from 10am-12pm noon
    • Finance: Wednesday at 12pm noon
    • Recreation: Tuesday at 2pm, Wednesday at 1pm and Friday at 11am.

*Note: you don’t necessarily have to post according to your local time zone, but the time zone that sees the most follower activity. This is especially true if you’re managing a Page with a global audience.
