LinkedIn Overview:

LinkedIn is a professional social network used by job seekers, recruiters, business people, and salespeople. It’s primarily used during working hours and mainly on weekdays. The platform generally gets the most traffic during the morning, lunchtime, and early evenings. Similar to Facebook and Instagram, there is no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to posting on LinkedIn. Timeliness and relevance are key when it comes to determining the best time to post. Analytics tools are quite limited in comparison to other platforms.

Suggested best times to post on LinkedIn:

  • Early in the morning, lunchtime, or early evening on Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • 10 am and 11 am on Tuesday
  • 8 am to 2 pm Tuesdays to Thursdays
  • Wednesday from 8–10 am and 12 pm noon
  • Thursday 9 am and 1-2 pm
  • Friday 9 am

Suggested worst times to post on LinkedIn:

  • Weekdays after work hours
  • Weekends after work hours

Industry experts suggest:

  1. Choose four different time slots to post content: early morning commute, content before or during lunchtime, late during the day or the evening commute, and after working hours.
  2. Post content for a month and slightly change the times the week after, similar to Facebook and Instagram above.
  3. Analyze data once the month is complete. If you have a LinkedIn Company page, there is an Analytics tool in which you can see Visitors’ metrics.
  4. Alternatively, you can use Google Analytics to monitor traffic.
  5. Fridays and Mondays are ideal days to target. Friday can be a good idea to post lighthearted content such as ‘don’t forget to relax over the weekend’ or an inspirational quote. Monday can be a good day to post content that fits the Monday morning mindset.
  6. Best times to post depend on the sector:
    • Software and Media Companies: Monday to Friday in the mornings
    • Healthcare and Higher Education: Mid-morning, around 10 am., to early afternoon, around 2 pm.
    • B2B Businesses: Before the workday, during lunch, and evening commutes.
    • B2C Businesses: Outside business hours and during lunch.
